Third of twelve demonstrations (eventually) at Tom Tunney's office and restaurant. Alderman Tunney spearheaded the repeal of the foie gras ban in Chicago, and has repeatedly insisted that the mutilation and murder of innocent animals should simply be a matter of chef choice.

Zak E. is leading the chants in this clip, from Sat, Aug 16, 2008.

  • no supprise tom eats goos liver as he also swallows big veined sausage

  • Higher reasoning? If youre an example of that than why do you live in a home made of animal homes. Wouldnt it be wrong to do that in your belief. The materials that build your homes, streets, schools, and stores were all made by materials of non-humans homes and habitat. non-humans also get killed in the processing of these building materials. Do you know better?

  • Seems you don't know what the definition of selfish is.

No. humans dying is not more important than non-humans dying. Sentient life is sentient life. Cows suffer as much as humans do.

I can't afford to travel to other countries to help others. I can afford to help others HERE. Edmonton's homeless, children, non-humans, victims of spousal abuse and rape --- why must I hitchike to a developing country in order to help others when there are plenty of humans and non-humans suffering where I am?

  • 1. Foxes need flesh to live, and the kill as efficiently as they can.

    2. Most non-humans don't have the higher reasoning and morality as we do, which is why we arrest thieves and child abusers but we don't arrest hyenas that steal & lions that kill cubs. If you take what non-humans do as an excuse to do it to, then almost everything we consider immoral in our society would be justified. Child abuse/killing is part of the natural world. Theft, rape & cannibalism too. But shouldnt we know better?

  • If you want to see how selfish you are, go to Africa and see how people there never have a chance at life before they are even born till the day they die. Then compare it to what you have. That may change your out look on life and decide that there are more important things to worry about then food.

  • Something else that is very real is how a fox kills a rabbit. They do it by chasing them down biting into them then while holding it with his front feet while pulling the skin off. While there still alive and kicking. They do that because that is what they do to survive and that is how the food chain works. We are part of the food chain as well and it just so happens we are at the top and thats life.

  • Value of non-humans is not a "fantasy". What IS fantasy is your species bias.

Just like people who say "I agree helping others is wonderful, but only when others means whites/men/heterosexuals/non-Jews/adults." A sentient being is a sentient being regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, IQ level, skills, class, species, etc.

Non-humans DO matter - their desire to NOT suffer or die is not fantasy, it is very real.

  • Agreed. But only when others means humans. If you really want to help a cause theres plenty of real problems in the world today without creating fantasy ones.

  • (Editted to fix typos)

Helping others is a wonderful way to live. A selfish life is not the only way of life out there.

  • Get a life.
