umm, I think you might be thinking of Jenny, who was Gibbs's ex-girlfriend, as Lemir said, Shannon was Gibbs's first wife who died years before Gibbs ever met Jenny. Shannon's death (along with their 8 year old daughter's) is what prompted Gibbs to leave the corp and join NCIS
