markc33 should get your facts straight. Retire after 20 years?!? Are you confusing teaching with being a soldier in the military? You should have paid better attention in class when the teacher was teaching the skill of verifying your sources!

You are soooooooo wrong. I dare you to say that to a teacher. I don't know a single one who only works 9 mos. when you count all of the evenings & weekends spent grading, planning and preparing, not to mention the hours spent in summer workshops trying to better themselves. You might want to talk to some dedicated teachers before you say anything else!

I know some people who work as teachers but I do not understand what on hell they are thinking about. It is a real shame... :(

Teachers make more than the average American income by a long shot! And that's for 9 months work. They have some of the best health care options money can buy. They are cool in the summer/hot in the winter. They get all the kids Vacations days in addition to the 3 mo. off in summer. They can retire with full benefits after only 20 years of service. They work day is from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. They get an average of 3to 4% raises every year, and talk about job stability... Lets keep it real!!!!
