The other day I stopped at the Quickie Mart and found an orig. 4-pack tucked back behind some older wine & stuff, it expired in 1987 and they still sold them to me.

"wine" flavored malts came about as a matter of practicality. Many states offer many different kind of alcohol licensing to bars. Some licenses do not permit sale of wine on Sunday, but permit beer sales. If a "wine cooler" is malt base, it is considered beer and is permitted to be sold on Sunday

The original Bartles and Jaymes was very good. The malt flavored stuff in fancy flavors... I was soooo disappointed when that came out. Ewwww. I couldn't ever find the original flavor so I stopped looking. Love the commercials.
