Store your food away and you'll have food on a rainy day, but you gotta know what to do with it when it's time to open the jar. This dish comes right out of the Ball canning book, and takes advantage of the idea of mirepoix.

  • @snaps81625 Yes it is a way of life. My mother was born in the great depression and she's been buying things on sale and putting them away for as long as I can remember. She also uses the food on a regular basis, but at any given time I think she has enough food to last for several months if not longer. It's how she's lived all her life. I know that many of her generation do the same thing, and I think we could do well to follow their example.

  • @therealvirginiawind From a small child I have heard about foodstorage, being LDS I was taught at a young age about being prepared.. as a young woman I became interested in the things our ancestors did to survive.. I learned many things and I am very well prepared, but every motn I just add more.. every month.. its a way of life. God Bless!

  • @snaps81625 Prepping is a term that brings us together, but I'd like to see folks moving more towards doing this kind of thing as a lifestyle. It's cheaper, and more healthy than buying boxed foods.

  • @therealvirginiawind Well keep prepping, don't stop.. we're all going to need it! God Bless!

  • @Thesmalltowngardener Love my hats, and especially this one. There's actually an entire book written on these. I had it once, but gave it away. The origin of them has something to do with providing a helmet for woodsmen.

  • @johnboh51 Thanks for the nice words. I hope in some way I help my video helped you notice something you might have not seen before.

  • @JaxRL Thanks for the nice feedback my friend. I'm glad to see you happy and doing well with your rambunctious 4 footed friend.

  • @bowlmeoverva There's room for tweaking on the carrots onions and celery mix, but starting with that idea you really can't go wrong.

  • @katzcradul Thanks katzcradul!
