  • Note: I posted this section of hoju-undo training method for all to enjoy and some may learn something, and improve your martial arts. It is not my intention for some individuals to use this to make unnecessary comments or any comment that is insulting to the martial arts of Okinawa or its Masters. These comments will be removed; if that does not work I will have to approve all comments before posting. Sometimes it is best if you are going to say anything say nothing…Osu!

  • I'm of the opinion that Morio Higoanna would be a match for almost anyone in martial arts - globally, except in the most extreme of circumstances. His age is not an issue

Such is his skill level, conditioning, technique, length of practice and strength of mind

    hai !... Sensei !!

  • @njtr I'm not sure that he is prioritizing longtime safety, but he has been doing this all his life and his body can definitely handle the stress given his training history and conditioning which is nothing short of remarkable. He is already past 70 years old so I am not sure what you mean but "old age" but he is to the best of my knowledge not experiencing any problems related to the makiwara training.

  • @finnurth I started my Goju Ryu training almost 13 years ago when I was 5. I'm still running strong and even teaching youth classes in my Sensei's dojo. I was lucky enough to start learning before the the decline of Traditional Art demand for the rise of Sport Combat demand.

  • @finnurth Mate I Agree... I started around 5 months ago (in my mid 40's) and have now passed the 1st grading - yes it was tough going, but it's like anything if you set your mind to it... it can be achieved. Was really unfit at the start - but now that's changing real quick. Arigato gozaimashita (Thankyou very much)

  • @IEKUKATAKA ok, i just sign up at my next door neighbour okinawa karate master.....(sarcasm)

  • Part 4. Okinawa and rest of Japan is not the same. They became very "Americanized" after WWII until these days, so I really doubt that new generations (young peple and kids) are different than western young people and kids. For this reason, I think that there are a lot of tournaments and karate as sport in Japan as well. My respect to all of you. Regards from Argentina

  • Parte 3. I believe that western people, if they want, can be an excellent traditional martial artist, with the right guidance. It is not necessary to be Japanese to do it. I also believe that tournament karate is a sport only, and a way to make money and incentivate many young people to practice something that, if done in the traditional way they wouldn´t enter in a dojo at all. Traditional Karate-do is not for everybody. In the same way I believe that Okinawa and rest of Japan. To be continued

  • Part 2. There have been great karate teachers from Okinawa that came to the western world and taught and keep teaching real Okinawan traditional Karate-do like my Sensei Shoei Miyazato(10th Dan), with continuation guaranteed by his son Sensei Masatoshi Miyazato (9th Dan). Surely must be some others around the world doing an awesome job teaching the real spirit martial arts in other places beyond Okinawa. To be continued....

  • I really enjoyed this video. I totally agree with the difference between traditional Okinawan Karate-do as a true martial art and the so called western tournament karate as a sport. I agree that Okinawan in the old years has been the meca of Karate, I respect that and I will thank forever for that. However I disagree with comments saying that all western karate means tournament and all karate in Okinawa is true martial art. To be continued...

  • OSSSSUUU!!!!
