What were some of these crazy sprites supposed to be in the first place? (Like what exactly spawned a keyhole.) I know you got the key in reserve from Funky, but how did the second Yoshi have a non-Null Sprite when he materialized?

The Dino Rhino, which spawned from the 1-up, is what spawned the keyhole. It was just in its stunned state. The Dino Rhino looked glitched because it was in the wrong GFX tileset.

The second Yoshi had grabbed something on his tongue when he first spawned, then immidiately turned invisible. Then he took damage, canceling his tongue. So anything that went into the same slot as the shell that went onto his tongue in the beginning, went into his mouth.
