The first time I saw Kate Mulgrew was 9 yrs ago at a UK convention. People were asking her questions via microphone. Then there was a very young disabled girl in the audience and Kate couldnt see her from where she was sitting and for some reason we couldnt hear what the girl was saying. Kate invited the girl to join her on stage to ask her question. The girl accepted and Kate walked into the audience, wheeled the girl to join her and returned her to the audience. A very touching moment.

@hardr0ck I don't think the questioner implied Kate Mulgrew was more qualified, but perhaps was exploring how someone with clear religious beliefs (you don't have a nun as your spiritual director for 38 years otherwise!) could justify acting in an episode which appeared to undermine some of the teachings her church holds. I don't think she tried to give an answer as an 'expert', which is why she said 'I'm going to side step'. Her answer was humane, honest and helpful.

She is such a wonderful public speaker. I went to her panels at Dragoncon and was just in awe. She has a very compelling presence and just kind of draws you right in.
