Paranoid persons may dwell on the trivial.
;
A person with PPD:

- feels attacked, even when others don't see it
- accepts criticism poorly
*
Treatment likely will focus on increasing general coping skills, as well as on improving social interaction, communication, and self-esteem.

  • found out a day ago my paps has this he thinks the're cameras in the tv so he pulls me into the bathroom to talk to me everytime, he thinks my mom poisns his food, he thinks my moms cheating but then he says i know she can never do something like that?? wtf so contradictory it's dreadfull because at the end of the day its not his fault

  • @1990banks of course it's not his fault, he must immediately address that problem with a professional, in his case, it is not personality disorder.

  • @rnk1977 : why would it not be a personality disorder in that case?

  • @pyrrho314 when you think someone is poisining you, it's text book example of other problems

  • I've taken one test for personality disorders, copied and submitted it twice. In one copy I said I was male and in the other copy I said I was female. Otherwise the my answers were identical.

The female one said paranoid, the male said schizotypal. Why the difference?

I'm really beginning to lose faith in these so called proffessionals now that I know they are sexually prejudiced.

  • in a way that is paranoid thinking pattern. these are only guidlines - you know yourself what problem is-results should only confirm problems and suffering you might feel. Professionals can't give you some magic pill and make you better, it is up to you to make steps and a difference

  • being paranoid is no way to live. . . always on guard, always on the defensive. . .and when people are nice, you wonder why, what is this for and what do you want in return?

it sucks when you lose friends because you can't trust them anymore

  • I cried watching this at work. All this while, I have always believed that my dad is just like me, that he is able to experience the world and see the goodness in it. I have been trying to rationalise his fears throughout my life and told him I don't see what he sees. He said to me that I will understand when I am older. I don't. I just don't. Watching this video just made me realise that he has PPD. My family fell apart because of this. Any advice on how to help is greatly appreciated.

  • My parents say to me to just stop thinking that everyone is out to call me names or beat me up but i cant stop that thinking its just there all the time and my parents think i can wake up 1 day and not be paranoid i really wish it was that easy but its not

  • im 12. i keep thinkin i have this disorder and everything cause im so paranoid all of the time. sometimes i hallucinate. and one time i thought my dad tryed to poison me. im scared cause neither of my parents would even try to take me to make sure no matter what i say. i have no idea what to do! i feel like i cant trust anyone anymore. im scared that if i dont get help soon than something bad is gonna happen to me. • @pillowbugg Yes, especially if you have had to deal with extensive abuse & bullying as a child. You grow up seeing the world as adversarial. We wouldn't have to worry about developing personality disorders if there were not so many mean people in the world.

  • Maybe if people didn't have agendas and used people to carry them out, we wouldn't have these problems. I don't think ppd is a real disorder, its just being cautious and protecting yourself.

  • @ianjcero I know the test was posted for fun. But if it is the same test that is used to screen people then I worry. It shouldn't matter what race, gender, age, etc, you are. If you answer the question "yes" or "no", then your answer should be "yes" or "no", not: the young, white female says "yes" on question 2. Scientific tests are supposed be objective.

  • @CanadiaNecro1 1) If you took the test online there is a high likelihood that it was either fake or a screening test. If it was a screening test, it is not designed to be diagnostic. It is designed to find potentially elevated symptoms so you can get an idea of where you might want to follow up.

    2) Disorders vary by gender, race, and age both in frequency and presentation. Taking demographic data (which we know is important for treatment outcomes) into account is not prejudice.

  • its a matter of where you place your energy i guess. how willing you are to be fair to others, and yourself, whether you are on the internet looking to figure it out, or for ways to set up security cams and tap phones of people wanting to "get" ya. hmmm... i wouldnt be surpised if this is a normal manifestation of people that deal with sociopaths, because its a shock to those with a concius to comprehend what can be out there. i hope i can keep myself from being secluded and afraid to trust....

  • And the sad part in all of it, is that when you trust people, you have to realize that you might get hurt, this video taught me that i do not want to be afraid to trust. i lashed out overboard on the last person that hurt me,cause it was hard to trust to begin with. but what i have is good enough to protect, then it should be kind also. i wont let people that lie and use and might get one over on me turn me into someone who cant appriciate the ones worth trusting, wow, really eye opening.

  • what would make this so hard. is with the abusive parental rage in childhood, and the of picking abusive people later in life means, sometimes their feelings are probably coexisting with some kind of actual victomization. i have had a liar accuse me of being overyly suspicious, so i trusted, sheesh cant win :) i think i have this... childhood, etc.. only later in life do i see that im taking offense getting angry at nothing. overswerve for a victom, its called GUNSHY:) tks for the input:)
