This was my very first attempt ever using Adobe Premiere to edit a video, so please be kind in the comments.

I created this video for the ds106 assignment, "Return to the Silent Era". After the huge success that "The Artist" had last year, and at the academy awards, it only seemed fitting that people start turning modern classics into "silent era" films. I figured "Back to the Future" would work nicely, especially the train rescue scene at the end of the 3rd movie in the series.

Nine people apparently are as smart as Biff.

When bttf3 came out in 91, I was 11 and thought it would have been cool if Doc would have documented this on video via an Edison style silent film camera the way he did if or the first experiment using the jvc camera, congratulations for bringing a 22yr old dream in my head to life, you did a great job with this!

I thought the exact same thing (I was 12 at the time). A real shame they didn't do it, but glad I could help fulfill our shared vision!

Pretty good. But you should really check into the aspect ratios of the silent era. It should be either academy aspect ratio or 1.33, witch is almost the same thing. Just saying to be a smart ass :)

Thanks for the helpful comments! I have an idea for another silent era film from another 80s movie that I think would work nicely. I'll see what I can do to get just the right aspect ratio :)

You might want to reduce the frame rate slightly as well; silents ran at 18 frames a second to sound's 24 (and even more now), which gives it a slightly choppy look to our eyes. And of course to make things look like they were going faster than they were, they'd speed chase scenes etc up, which is hilarious with horses.

An excellent job with it! Very amusing video, and a nice concept. :-)
