@Cheeseisgood7789 Well it depends on your development cycle, some people argue that China was actually going through a form of Fordist development and some kind of bizarre communist consumer culture when it modernized (hence things like the 'four essentials' a bicycle, radio, etc.) so development patterns might be similar. But yeah, democratic election of a high-ranking communist only happened once, Salvador Allende in Chile.

@LunaticFringe20 Seeing as it REQUIRES a total overhaul of the social order, economic system, political system, and the rest of the world (or just most of it) joining it, I'd have to admit that it's never a good mix.

@Cheeseisgood7789 Yeah communism and political parties aren't often a good mix, obviously some communists do get elected in some countries like France, but communism isn't exactly a philosophy that mixes with liberal democracy.

@LunaticFringe20 What's funny about is that if communists form a normal political party they cease to be communists and become corrupt social democrats. It's like if Ron Paul tried to lead a bunch of impoverished Muslims in a revolution.
