Side impact test for LSD wing doors
supplies proof of safety in impressive style

• Safety concerns can be totally dispelled
• Test confirms occupant protection and problem-free occupant extrication
• "Made in Germany" quality

The side impact test has provided the proof. The patented LSD wing door hinge system -- whose mechanism allows the wing doors to open sideways and then to swing upwards -- provides an optimum level of safety in the event of a side impact. The test was conducted in accordance with Directives ECE- R 95 and 96/27/EC which is applicable for automotive producers.
The DEKRA Accident Research and Crash Test Center has confirmed that equipping a vehicle with LSD wing doors provides the required level of protection and ensures optimum occupant safety. The side impact test conducted confirms that the maximum permissible loading values for occupant dummies even fall short by a significant amount.

Optimum safety for occupants

The side impact test provides an impressive illustration of the extreme stresses and strains to which both components and occupants alike are subjected. In the case of the side impact test conducted in accordance with the applicable Directives ECE- R 95 and 96/27/EC, a moving barrier is made to accelerate up to 50 km/h. This barrier is then allowed to crash sideways against the offside. "Sitting at the wheel" is a dummy of the type Euro - SID 1, which is equipped with sensors and connected up to measuring instruments. The measuring data confirm that the required dummy loading limit values fall short by a long way. The doors did not open during the impact.

Problem-free occupant extrication

The occupant extrication aspect also fully satisfied the EC Directive. Extrication through the passenger door was possible without any problems and without the assistance of tools. It was possible to lever up the offside, in the usual way after a side impact, with the aid of special tools and, with the LSD hinge mechanism that had been fitted, it was still possible for the door to open upwards.

Qualität „Made in Germany"

Compared to other retrofit sets for wing doors, the LSD fittings made in Germany are more impressive due to their absolutely sound engineering and the highest-possible standard of quality.
The patented solution makes installation quick and easy without any welding or repainting necessary. Another convincing feature is their perfect fit, thanks to the ability to make three-dimensional adjustments. The LSD door fittings are mounted directly at the points where the original doors were removed. With the added fittings, the otherwise unchanged doors open first outward and then gently glide upward and stop. Adjustable buffers prevent the doors from being opened too wide or from falling downward or inward when open. A simple grip is all it takes to close the door. On the one hand, the LSD solution allows you to open the door in a outward motion with an aperture angle of approx. 30°; on the other hand, it also allows you to swing the wing door upward, and all that without any great exertion. The LSD wing doors lend any car a sensational look and are the ideal solution for all fans of unusual tuning and show cars. The LSD door fittings are available from LSD or special dealers.
