Interesting & thank you. Just for info: My instructor is one of the original guys under Choi Yong-Sul's style and hasn't really changed. He has been teaching for over 50 years and never taught any gymnastic moves. I did not learn "American Hapkido". I too grew up in Korea. There are many styles of Hapkido. Most HKD instructors were TKD first. Grandmaster Chang has been HKD from the very beginning. Thank you for your explanation of your HKD. I am a "Kong In Sa Bom". 34 yrs HKD.

I was born and raised in Korea until I was 15 yo. I trained in HKD 3 yrs in Korea (12-15) and moved to the US and had to switch to TKD since there were no HKD school. I lived in Chulla BukDo province Nam Won city. Fairly rural. Starting from white, we did flips. Not required but any kids serious and liked it enough came early and stayed late doing flips, spinning kicks, all kinds of nak bup. That was 80's. And I get my modern info from my Korean TKD/HKD instructor friends
Doing tecniques against weapon without paying respect or attention to it is completly suicidal. At 2:27 in the same technique, the defender pulls the knife to himself twice without knowing it. What would happen if it was a real knife? Training with dummy weapon is to avoid hurting ourselves when making mistake. Still, we must pay respect and handle the weapon as if it is real one.

@Trgvo
Thank you for your comment. Yes you're right, but you have to think that those tecniques are not what we show at the dochang against real attack, it's just pure "hapkido tecnic", not self defense. That's the diference.
Self defense against real weapons are diferent than the ones shown in this video. You have to be cazy if you use those tecniques against real knife ;) What you see in this video is "art", a Martial Art.

I now realize why bocatrasto is so defensive about this video. He posted it. I get it now. LOL

All Right men, as a said in other comment: You win, you´re the best in the word, the original and the real one.
Please, could you finish this? I´m really bored about that. Thank you
Vale tio, como te dije en otro comentario: Tu ganas, eres el mejor del mundo, el original y el verdadero.
Por favor, ¿podrías terminar esto? Estoy verdaderamente aburrido del tema. Gracias.
