  • Great lesson as always, Robert. I happen to live in Lake Elsinore where Suhr's are crafted. I noticed your thread on the Strat Talk forums asking about Suhr versus Squier CV series (you were obviously joking as to the quality difference..) But, I'm curious if this guitar was a recent purchase based on your contemplation or if you've had this strat for a while already. It's a beauty, by the way!

  • @extenshun Thanks, I've had it for over 3 years now. Love it.

  • Tack! More lessons like this! :D

  • @Matheus222 Vassego!

  • @prakharp Thanks! I just bought a new shirt! :)

  • @colouredfreeways how the hell can people say his pop stuff is bad ? It has MUSICALITY. Something that pretty much every pop artist nowadays just DOESN'T HAVE. I guess people just started to label pop music as shit which is wrong. The quality of a song doesn't have nothing to do with the genre.

I love much more his blues playing too, but his pop stuff is also great, it has concept, it is good music.

  • Hi Robert, I used to play classical guitar when I was younger, so I have some basics of guitar technique. I've just been browsing through some of your videos - I've borrowed an electric guitar some time ago and I've decided to learn some more blues licks.

Unfortunately, being a student, I have absolutely no money to spare on an amp. So I'm practising on an unplugged Stratocaster, at least until summer. I hope it's not a mistake and a bad thing to do:) At least it doesn't disturb the neighbours.

I agree with the other poster about Mayer's pop songs. He goes way beyond 3 chord drivel and has thought and meaning to it, along with a surprising amount of technical ability.

I think many of the people ragging on Mayer are doing just case if has become popular to do so.

He is a little rough around the edges when it comes to his self-awareness and self-importance, but his music (all of it) is top shelf, well conceived and executed.

  • never seen a bad lesson from this guy

  • Thanks man. I'm learning to solo and this giving some nice ideas.

  • Thanks' Robert, for all your lessons.

  • Haha, John Mayer is my favorite guitarist and as soon as I subscribe to you, you put up a video related to his style. Love it, thanks!
