  • H i there

thanks for those informations. I didn't know borj-e-sefid used to be a retired army general of the shah but now I know. I only go there shopping or used to go. I lived in neyestan haftom and I loved it there and I miss it so much. I hope I go back one day and live there again.

  • I still remember with a smile the old dog Benny of that general, who sort of guarded Neiestan street and barked at everyone who passed by - but he was harmless and really nice. It´s funny how 30 years stay so fresh in your mind. That part of Darrous was a very quiet street in the old days, quite a relief from the chaotic avenue, and I still have very fond memories of that time in that street. Anyone on Youtube wants to tell about the Borj-e Sefid?

  • The Borj-e Sefid center has been built on what was an estate of a retired Army general of the Shah, and later, after his death but before 1979, a private primary school. i guess the Kuche-ye Neiestan, which runs parallel to the Khiaban-e Pasdaran (formerly Khiaban-e Saltanatabad), is still there. I lived in front of it, Neiestan 22 till December 1978, and I saw on Google Earth that that house has been torn down and replaced by an apartment complex... but the neighborhood is still recognizable.
