A 10 mile round trip, the walk starts from the village of Hawnby hidden among the Hambleton Hills of the North York Moors.
The walk heads up Sunny Bank towards Dale Town Common. From this moorland the path joins the Hambleton Drove Road and the Cleveland Way. The route follows the Cleveland Way for just over 2 miles skirting Boltby Forest before reaching the escarpment overlooking the villages of Kepwick and Nether Silton. From here the route continues north for another 500m before heading east over the moor towards Thorodale. The path then leads through Thorodale Wood and onto Mount Pleasant Farm before descending through Half Moon Plantation and crossing the River Rye. The final section then climbs Hawnby Hill.
