I read somewhere that the possible reason? Obi-wan wached over Luke on Tatooine was because he was the father of the twins.(Even Anikin thought they had a thing). It would almost make sense then for Obi-wan to want to help Leia//R2-D2 (You're my only hope)

This is the greatest scene in film (IV), just so emotional and touching for a movie of that genre. As for III's version, it truly redeemed the Original Trilogy. No matter how bad Jar Jar was or how rushed it all was, having that scene as the bridge between III and IV was a stroke of genius. It brings a tear to the eye, and John Williams' Binary Sunset piece is beautiful. It defined the series, and showed that it is still capable of bringing the audience to stunned silence. Star Wars Forever.
