The "he" in "he has been here" is the spirit of evil, I suppose, or death, which makes the song quite creepy.

this video almost brings me to tears every time i watch it. But its not the beutiful lyrics or the amazing melody... no its james blunts emotions that shows so clearly on him when he sings.
