How do you feel about people setting their expectations based on how you talk? Is it important? - http://www.twitter.com/csandreas I grew up decidedly a nerd but I didn't know that would also mean I was also betraying my race. I didn't know that meant I was less "black" that someone else and certainly didn't know being hood was all their was to being black. Oh, wait that's right because it's much bigger than that.

I grew up getting picked on for a lot of things I couldn't help, this included and I'd love to say I grew up without a complex but truth is I never know how to speak around unknown people. Some are receptive to the real me, others just want me to nod my head and talk about that green. I can't do that so I stop short at nodding my head. I am most comfortable around people like me. People that love who they are no matter what...and wouldn't change for the world, even if for once it might be fun to blend in.

I'm black and I'v e been called white because of the way I talk. Its funny to me though that people would degrade themselves as to say that using proper english is an ethnic characteristic.

lol you wanna know the real problem with race relations?.... Its the fact that people are still even having discussions and arguments over things like this (not the guy in the video: he's right). If we stop looking at color and start looking at the individual things would change. However, know matter what race it may be, we always find a way to steretype, generalize and ultimately prejudge based on ethnic characteristics rather than indivudual content.
