  • Sad to hear that the composer, John Mason, of this beautiful tune has just passed away. He was for many years the conductor of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. I've never heard a song to this tune.

Yes, there's another tune of the same name, but bears no resemblance to it.

  • There is a song called Scotland again to this tune. Really bonnie one too. I must confess that I really adore some of the slow airs recorded by the SFO. Really outstanding and they make the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

  • As usual,a first class effort Graham, and I wipe a tear awa as it reminds me of my long ago and far away highland home place in beautiful Easter -Ross, Albainn gu Brath

  • Thanks as always for the nice comment

  • I'm on the hunt for beautiful romantic waltzes such as this gorgeous piece. What can you suggest? This is one my faves. Also love Jay Ungar's Ashokan Farewell and Lover's Watlz (of course) and Utpik Waltz. Please make suggestions!

  • There's the mist covered mountains, Lake Dore waltz, Jean & Beautiful dreamer, Farewell to Kintail, Miss Helen T Smith, the Dark Island, Malcolm MacLeod of Gartloch, Rose of Baltimore,

Princess of Wales, Sands of Kuwait, Home on the range and loads more.

  • super!

  • Once again you have entertained me with this excellent rendition. Thanks a million, Graham.

  • I thought that Farewell to Kintail was the most beautiful, but this is a very close second! Thanks for the post! Jan from Georgia

  • As far as I know there's a song & instrumental version in Scotland at least. Thanks for the nice comment
