The University of Louisvilles incoming freshman will be joining in a covenant with the school, according to UofL President Dr. James Ramsey. As part of freshman orientation, Dr. Ramsey is telling the new students and their parents that UofL faculty and staff are promising to do everything they can to see each student graduate in four years. But, the president says, theres no guarantee unless students fulfill their part of the deal and meet the high expectations of their professors. In other words, Ramsey told the freshmen, show up with your game face on.
Dr. Ramsey is telling new students that brainpower will be their best capital for snaring the jobs of tomorrow which Ramsey says havent even been defined yet.
UofLs mission is to become a major metropolitan research university in the next 11 years. Dr. Ramsey talked about the schools successes in cancer research and developing new drugs. He also told students theyll have opportunities for internships much like Dr. Ramseys daughter, Jacque, a UofL student whos currently working at the NCAA College World Series.
UofL staff and students are welcoming new students to campus during a series of orientation days throughout the month of June. The sessions are aimed at giving incoming students and their parents an in-depth look at the UofL campus experience before classes begin in August.
