Undaunted by Sighisoara's association with vampires and other scary creatures, I bravely venture into the Transylvanian village's ancient Saxon graveyard.
no of course!! the stonework and site of it is beautiful but the stairs and its name relates to a project i am involved in which will be filmed in sighisoara
Thank you for reminding me of Sighisoara. I actually went there in July 2006. Every time I go there I like going up and spending some time up on the hill and the graveyard is just so lovely and calm and full of greenery and old trees; I love sitting up there and looking down at the town below. The tombstones take you back in time to the people who made them and I liked looking at the different styles and names (many of which are Saxon); I found it very interesting and instructive.
Not only stray dogs, but also the ones in people's yards... If one starts to bark/howl, the others will follow.
The covered stairway - also called the Schoolchildren's Stairway - was build to help children go to the school which is up there on the hill, not far from the church. It was built in 1662 and it initially had 300 steps, but following some changes which took place in 1849, only 175 steps were left.

"L'escalier des eleves" would probably sound less scary, in French. There's a school up there - and not just any school, an important school.
To us these are places full of charm, not of spookiness and weirdness.
