  • Did Harley buy Buell?

  • @FreakyKing2 Harley-Davidson acquired 49% of Buell in 1993, and it became a wholly owned subsidiary by 2003, which was 51%(I think). Then they discontinued the Buell brand October 15th, 2009.

  • Thanks Harley: FOR NOTHING!

  • In this video, Listen to what Erik Buell and the engineers say about technological innovation, improvement, affordability and free thinking.

Then contrast that philosophy and work ethic with what HD has been doing for the past decades. Theirs is the same mentality that has brought companies like GM and Chrysler to their knees.

  • @moonrunrs (continued) spirit is dead in the US. The term "made in america" has become a joke. It usually means designed in america, built somewhere else, inefficient, clunky, and ready to implode the second the warranty expires.

  • @moonrunrs (continued) That contrast in philosophy you're talking about gives us a reputation across the world for making the biggest, boxiest, ugliest, gas guzzling-est behemoths on the road, which is why most of what we sell to the rest of the world is trucks and heavy machinery. Not that failing to be the best is shameful, but when you give up even trying there's a problem. Nations should strive to improve and innovate just because it makes the world better, and it feels like that (continued)

  • @moonrunrs Lol, and the passion you hear in his voice when he says "lets show those guys we can build something here in the US that can beat them." For decades our vehicles and bikes have been crap compared to imports and in most racing circuits outside the US, we're laughed at. Only a few cars, and almost no bikes in the last 40 years from the US have made an impact on racing, or the image of american quality products. (continued)

  • Damn I love Buell, Glad he came back with EBR

  • Love my Uly!

  • @moonrunrs yeah when harley first started out. They where just like everyone else. They had to bring new technologies to the table. But ever since the company became financially unstable. They just decided to go with image. Buell doesn't do the image bullshit. Good products sell themselves.
