  • I absolutely adore Liz Smith, think she is a fantastic actress, not just comedy - but she has been in some fabulous plays and films - written by the cream of British Talent - Alan Bennett, Mike Leigh, she seems so unaffected and down to earth. Saw her on Tv last night being interviewed by Mark Lawson - very entertaining!!

  • she was boss in 2 point 4 children

  • Absolutely adore this woman. Read her book "Our Betty" - charming little book by a woman who had a hard start in life but rose to the top of her profession. One of the best-loved comedy actresses in Britain, but so sad that she had to retire after her numerous strokes.

  • cross my palm with silver

  • Liz is a Diamond and I love her!!!

  • @rockchick80s I agree , i respect ,adore , appreciate and admire Liz Smith

  • thats rubbish she was only born in 1921

  • oh no i didn't know that. how awful :(

  • why has someone put a thumbs down to this? it is completely true, both those things have happened. and, ofcourse, as he says, it is sad, very sad

  • I Think she was married to charlie chaplin back in the late 1920,s

  • I agree. I feel so very sorry for her that she's had this stroke. It's such a shame she had to retire. I've read her autobiography and from that you really get a sense of how much she wanted to act and how much of a dream it has been for her. She's wonderful and I hope that if she doesn't act any more, she at least writes some more eventually.

  • Its so sad that she had a stroke. Shes retired now and lives in a nursing home :(
