@mikeswanon8989 Undoubtedly, the leading driver of economic growth and development is the level of capital in the economy. So yes, they can better afford it but it is detrimental in the long run. Taxes need to be lower for all, followed by decreased government spending.

@MiracleBoltz You just made the economic argument against raising taxes. The rich invest their income left over from consumption, be it their bank accounts, standard investments, or capital improvements in their business. Either way this makes capital available to new business and established businesses looking to expand. By taxing them you not only decrease their incentive to produce at a higher marginal rate, but you deplete the level of capital in the economy by giving to the government.

If anyone can afford to pay taxes, it's the rich. Yes, they earned that money and deserve to keep it. But most people who have losts of money usually invest it so their bank account so it can grow. Therefore, their money is always growing. I understand that some people think that it isn't fair to take more taxes from them than anyone else. But those who have less money, have less to give. And those who have more money, have more to give.
