I'm the trainee behind the fireman - I later did my first proper firing that day and man was it a baptism of fire (!) - Blanche on its eight coach limit charging up to Blaenau full throttle, non-stop control juggling! Incredibly satisfying. My second baptism was firing the Earl up to Tan-Y-Bwlch - you learn very quickly how to shovel in the unique double Fairlie environment... twice of everything... and sideways!
Proud to be a part of the FR&WHR. Nothing quite like it anywhere else!
