Engine Swap Test - 306 D-Turbo

Dave has spent his Christmas and New Year Holiday doing an engine swap in his Peugeot 306. He has taken the engine from a Citroen Xantia 1.9 D Turbo, slightly ported the inlets, new cambelt, HDi gearbox, new clutch, guvnor mod, front mount intercooler, stage 2? Tune and various other upgrades to name but a few.

This is kind of the Test & Tune session. Going through Town to take me Home.

The video doesn't really do it any justice, the sound of the Turbo spooling up and induction etc is much louder in person and obviously he was in town so didn't really "plant it" :)

Will get 0-60 up, and possibly dyno run once I have the proper fmic on. Bit busy with uni work atm. Not sure about the HDI 406 box, ive never heard of them fitting, but ive also never heard of them not fitting. They seem so expensive to get hold of but if ones gooing cheap, try it!.

Hello, I've got a 1997 R reg 306 mark 2 TDLX with a stage one tune, K&N and freeflow stainless pipe. Which HDi gearbox would be best as an upgrade, the one from a 90bhp HDi 306, or could I fit one from an 110 bhp Hdi 406 ? The former would give me just over 28mph per 1,000 RPM in top as opposed to the 26mph it has as standard and it feels like it can pull higher gearing easily.

His fmic is a bodge, but it works! The intercooler itself is off a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo and is plumbed in with no ally pipe, all the piping is flexi high-pressure black stuff from hardware shops etc. I'll ask dave to do a descriptive video for you, i doubt he'll check his messages on here! :)

Engines are exactly the same mate, they are both the XUD engine. Stage 1 tune her engine if its not done already, gives more poke. Then upgrade to FMIC if needs be. Only reason I got the xantia engine was because it was cheeap and low miles. dave

alright m8 me mum has a 306 d turbo, and shes had it all modded not so its lukin like a chav mobile looks mint, she was lookin for more power and was considering a front mounted intercooler are they much doing on 306 1.9td or is it worth gettin a xantia engine?
