Update on activity at Alameda Point, the former Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. Eight apartment buildings are being demolished using federal HUD Block Grant money after buildings stood vacant for over a decade.

Final section of contaminated sewer drain is being replaced on western side of Seaplane Lagoon. A temporary metal barrier is being constructed in the lagoon to prevent contaminated soil and concrete from entering lagoon water.

Endangered Least Terns have returned to Alameda Point as they do every April. They nest in a special area of the Wildlife Refuge on the southwestern portion of Alameda Point. They feed in nearby waters such as this inlet next to the Encinal Boat Ramp to the east of their nesting area.
