Excerpts from Kris Saknussemm's novel Reverend America set to music by Christopher O'Riley. Created by Phil Abrams.

"An albino ex-child-preacher searches for personal salvation in the heart of the heart of the country. Dangerous, hilarious, wildly imagined, weird as a carnival midway, and real and tragic as blues harmonica. Reverend America is blisteringly good. Kris Saknussemm is red-hot and smoking."

-Janet Fitch

"Saknussemm is a rare visionary of American culture, a fearless artist with his very own skew on the western world. At turns bizarre, hilarious, illuminating, and unsettling, Reverend America is always brilliant!"

-Jonathan Evison

"On the one hand, Kris Saknussemm's Reverend America is an impressive virtuoso comic tour de force, yet within the same remarkable novel is the sad and moving story of a world that moment by moment is losing itself."

-Jonathan Baumbach

"Fantastic book! (Bugle solo)"

-The Legendary Stardust Cowboy

  • The music is so evocative, beautifully played!

  • The prose is wonderful. The video images are Americana-surreal. I like.

  • Chris' dreamy composition and sensitive playing enhanced this book trailer - liked the idea of combining music with excerpts from the novel - brilliant! The video's grainy texture was also a nice touch - it helped bring "back" into another era!
