Fleming is human like Callas, Sutherland, Caballe, and every other great singer before them. She messed up. vryone hass an off night once in a while.The voice responds and obeys on some nights on others it does not. It takes guts to go out there and face the most hypercritical and judgemental audiences in the world, Opera Fanatics. Opera lovers can hate you for not being perfect ,like any human voice was ever perfect. Fleming succeeds more than she fails.

I want to point out this is just one video out of the countless of this fabulous woman singing in an impeccable manner. What does that tell you? However, for me this is like posting only the times a great ice skater has fallen. There is something mean spirited about it--when watching/listening to a grand performance uplifts the soul. I would rather concentrate on things that make my heart dance--but to each his/her own. We all have crosses to bear and that on which we prefer to focus.

I think some of you perceive insult where there wasn't any intended. I don't think the user is saying Renee is an irredeemable, untalented hack. It's just a mistake on display. If I were Renee I would be happy for all people to know that Yes, I'm a human and I screw up. It may help other performers get over their fear simply by hearing it.

I think some of you take things too seriously. If this was me I'd be fine with it being on Youtube because I'd want others to know I'm human and I screw it. It may help others feel more confident about performing with the knowledge that even the good singers screw up from time to time.

We all have our bad days. Most would love to sing as well as Renee does on her worst days. I think people ought to realize that opera divas are human and suffer the same problems we all do. Renee Fleming is great no matter what.

fullbuck 50, you make a lot of sense. Artists deserve respect, even though they do not always deliver. I only wish I had the talent to sing to large audiences and be accepted as a reasonably good performer!..Fleming is not my cup of tea but she is a serious singer and should be seen as such..
