After the Black Saturday fires I realised that I needed a "Plan B" given we are in a bushfire prone area. This is a record of the construction of our fire bunker / deck / wine cellar.

  • I like it, but I wonder if you bermed dirt up the sides 3 feet thick , slope 45 degrees, if it would be cooler.

Also. last resort, having enough clean dry construction sand in a bin, so you can lay 3-4 inches over the top might help keep inside cooler.

    May need to waterproof sides.

You don't want to jump into an oven to get out of a fire.

  • Love your work, should work well as a last resort shelter

  • I just left a comment. Where did it go?
