Another observation is that Diaz was not even landing any punches when the fight was stopped. Daley had his hands up and was weaving his head to avoid being hit. Random.

The point is, a referee could have stopped the fight at that moment and we would be having the exact same debate. 50/50. The standard for stopping a fight is arbitrary. Some fighters who are getting pounded get a chance to comeback, while others are not. Sometimes in the same fight.
