Open warfare has broken out in Sao Paolo between the police and criminal gangs. Hundreds have been gunned down in execution style killings and the carnage looks set to continue.

A notorious gang, the PCC, runs Sao Paolo's overcrowded jails. When news was leaked of a plan to break their power, all hell broke loose. They ordered their contacts to kill all policemen and 43 were gunned down. "How can it be that a man who's in jail commands everything that goes on out here?" despairs one victims' father. In retaliation, police death squads killed 400. Now, the fear is the killings will continue. As Prof. Ignacio states "We will probably see a worsening of prison conditions. This will trigger a harder reaction from criminal gangs leading us further into this vicious circle."

  • Wanderlei Silva for president!

  • police protect the banks and gangs protect the drugs who's right?

  • @ukusapillage you wrong

  • i also think that many of the higher society in brazil witch are mainly portuguese colonizers descent they dont want things to change, they believe blacks and half breeds are criminal by nature and prefer seeing them wiped out, they have still a colonial view of brasil after 500 years its their country but they sucked it and use it like it was a colony, they way they treat blacks nowdays is the same they did in 18 century, killing them. a fact is brasil has a huge problem, a race problerm

  • whar brasil needs is better educational system if they do that all people can grow out of poverty with gov help and start getting better jobs and leaving corruption behind, the problem is that brazil because its a large and rich country is still a target for outsiders to take advantage of using corruption, with better education ppl will know thats not the way to follow, they got to end the slums they are a cancer this is just my approach to the prob.

  • @daniggemelli In my opinion, of course..

  • @daniggemelli I dont understand how the beautiful and largely populated country of Brazil is doing so bad. They have so much to offer to tourists with its beauty and so much to be proud about for the locals. It should be a very famous country with a lot of wealth. Just shows how much devastation a government can do.

  • And trying be historically... we are a "new" country, a bit more than 500 years, we have a lot to learn and evolve. And nobody should forget what Europe made in their colonies. This video was made in 2006... since there things are changing, getting better. About corruption... well, it is a problem in the world... what we need fight!

  • Well, Brazil is such a ruge country! We are not just Sao Paulo an Rio... so, actually this is not the reality of the whole country. I know, anyway, it still a problem. The fact that we are a ruge country, makes things hard. For example, should be easier to govern a country of the size of England. And actually, there is violence there.

  • But how? I've lived there recently, and my vision is based on facts. Right now, there are too many people that are still corrupt in their thinking, but I agree, things will slowly get better..Uma Cerveja, por favor!
