A good looking engine, if I do say so myself. I'm a G scale live steamer, although I'd like to get into the ride on models some day (railroading on a budget isn't easy...).

I noticed that you don't show the locomotive with the cylinder cocks open. Is this just editing? If you don't open the cylinder cocks before you start, you could blow the piston up, and lose all that work you put into it!

The cylinder cocks are automatic.
The cylinders have D type slide valves and will lift if the cylinder cocks fail.
