From the snowy mountains of the Himalayas to its Southernmost tip, the practice of Hinduism in India is as varied as the multitude of cultures within its borders. Important life cycle events are often marked with a Jagrata: an all night vigil invoking the presence of a Hindu Goddess. In Rajasthan's remote Thar Desert village of Setrawa, the Jagrata invokes the warrior goddess, Durga. Experience the music and festivities of this special event as the Rathore family of Jodhpur returns to their village roots to celebrate their first born son's second birthday with a Jagrata, and a ceremonial haircut.
