Only have had FSX for 3 days now, but love it so far. Took the DHC-2 Beaver for a spin to some famous buildings in New York City. Even a brief landing in Central Park. All in one take, no cuts just one 4.26 shot of sheer fun.

Unfortunately Fraps didnt record the sound, dont know why, it works in all other games. Well anyway, I substituted the Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Jr. radial engine sounds with some approriate music.

Info on the seaplane is found at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-2_Beaver

Info on the various buildings flown by is found at:
Empire State Building

Metropolitan Museum of Art

Citicorp Building

MetLife Building

Chrysler Building (my favorite)

There is a building in lower left corner at 2:48, just before the descent into Central Park that I am not sure if it only exists in FSX or if that is a real building. Haven't been able to identify it, any ideas and suggestions as to what building it is will be appreciated.

This clip is blocked for some countries for unknown reasons, no idea what countries those are that don't approve of a simple flight simulator game.

  • i think he lives in new york. never have i heard someone describe with such detail where his plane was flying in a city

  • @ferrex7 Do you mean me? No I don't live in NYC, in fact never been there. I live in Stockholm, Sweden. But the buildings shown in FSX are quite famous so it was a breeze recognising them. It was really only one building I couldn't track down. In FSX there is only 4 (I think) real buildings shown in Stockholm, the Globe, the city hall, the five skyscrapers at Hötorget and the Kaknäs tower. Guess I should get round to doing a vid of Stockholm in FSX also, at some point.

  • pretty funny that microsoft made a game that you probably can t max out :)

  • @FSXHD92 How do you mean max out? Graphics wise or something else?

There is of course some third party add-ons to enhance the graphics, havent seen any from Microsoft though. This clip was made without any add-ons at all, since I just had gotten the game when I made it.

  • 2:02 press to skip long intro

  • @DKRaFiQ yes, fsx is a dynamic world-its not just the united states. although any buildings built or destroyed after the games release might not be current

  • Crash it next time.

  • if those buildings are so freakin 3D in new york, what about in other countries with famous landmarks? can we see em? like taipei 101? taj mahal? wherever?

  • I once flew a Boeing 747 around through NYC without crashing. (Witch Flight Simulator X, of course)

  • nice vid i like to play for fun too
