What is the Gospel?

The thing that people don't understand is that our God does not dwell on our sins. Our God sees us purely. We are sinless in God's eye. Why? Because Jesus died on the cross to take that sin away from us.

@pietyhill You make some good points, but assuming you're reformed, is there really ANYTHING the evangelist can do - or not do - to stand in the way of God sovereignly bringing someone to faith? I believe in telling people the truth about how God sees them. Whether the context for His view was Christian or non-Christian isn't important to me; if it's true and in Scripture, it's fair game to be preached. Christians shouldn't have any "dirty little secrets" when it comes to the unbeliever.

@TheTruthCanHurt Jeremiah is calling God's elect nation to repentance and obedience to the covenant they have made with God... unbelievers are called to repent of unbelief and idolatry. Paul is speaking to believers in Romans 1 *about* unbelievers, but in Athens he speaks like Keller *to* unbelievers on the street in Acts 17. As one who has done a tiny amount of street preaching and evangelism, I've found it important to know your audience... speak to their particular form or area of unbelief.

As a REFORMED street preacher, I resent Keller's judgement and over-generalization of a street preacher's motives. What if, like Jeremiah, he is just telling people what God has said in His Word? Will it always be soft and popular? No way! Look at what Paul called unbelievers in Rom. 1:18ff! "Gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil... foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless!" Open air preacher Peter called them "Messiah murderers" in Acts 2. Be careful.

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.

You just proved my point... Thanks.

@LinkD3 I dislike this video however I am not depraved and I certainly do not hate (nor have any emotions toward) "God". To hate something that does not exist would be lunacy on top of lunacy.
I agree. Tim Keller is like a modern day prophet. He has the tone, timbre, and approach to the gospel that is absolutely perfect for our modern western culture. I wish this was on the front page of Youtube. Imagine that!

Who would give this video low ratings!!!???
Man, Proof of total depravity and the fact that the human heart hates God the Gospel and Truth.
This video is AWESOME! Keller is the man.
Thanks for posting it
