  • I am not in the UK. I have a rare Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas and have divested of a few cars. I understand that Lanchester was alloy bodied??

Would cost me heaps to import that '32 so not feasible. Thanks for comments...

  • @OrnumCR That's very interesting, thanks for the reply. My friends 32 Lanchester is steel bodied, but the later one Simon has in this video is aluminium. These comments do not allow links, but I do have a recent picture of the 32. On my homepage is a link to my website. Left hand side is photos, then the third link of webshots. It's on the second page of my 2012 pics.....sorry it's so complicated, or send me an email if you like.

  • Why did you use this rare little Lanchester as a banger?? What a shame...

  • @OrnumCR Simon actually agrees with you. Only found out afterwards. He is a classic car restorer, and bought this with that in mind. However too many projects mean it would be sitting for maybe years, so he tried to get it saved. Approached the Lanchester Owners Club in an effort to find someone, but all they did was mess him around, and wanted to almost beg a few parts......so what do you do? Leave it to rot, scrap it, or race it, parts sold to others afterwards.

  • @OrnumCR A friend has a 1932 Lanchester all complete and in pretty good condition. He will sell it for £4000, maybe £3000. Desperately needs saving and I've been trying since I saw it 6 years ago.

  • That little Lanchester was aluminium over an ash frame and was coachbuilt by Barker's, a subsidiary of Daimler. Only 500 of these were built. So pretty rare in the scheme of things. I think people would cringe if an alloy bodied Jaguar XK120 were treated to the same fate!!...about 200 of those built in 1948. I know the bloke personally that has the 4th XK120 off the line. That is worth some serious dosh. I will have a gander at your site...Cheers..

I would like to see one of these restored.
