"I hold you close in the back of my mind/ It feels so good, but damn it makes me hurt."
When you can write lyrics like that - something so simple, but that probably everyone out there can relate to - you sure don't need any embellishment or vocal pyrotechnics.

one of the most underrated songs of the last 20 years...brilliant in so many ways...

@mimimiaou Gold, and Suicide handbook

@PorteousR the use of 'little girl' is most likely a metaphor for the opinion he has of the actions/words of the woman in the song.

Thank you for sharing this! It is wonderful.
-
I also have a question. Why 'little girl'?
-
Why kind of guitar is he playing?
-
@brainmed I could not have said it better..... i believe that his unbalanced personal life is a function of his brilliant creativity...
-
pure tear-jerking genius

i fucking love this fucking song, fuck :)
-
a beautiful song with so much common meaning. lots of feeling with understanding. memory and pain can be so in sync as much as this song make so.

No album sorry. This is taken from a bootleg recording of the show in 2006.

Ok, so I am baffled as to why he says 'La Cienega'; which means 'swamp'. Anyone know the story on this song/title? Either way, this is one hell of a song!

I think here it means the street in West Hollywood, La Cienega Boulevard.
