@TVLTNT No bit with a bit of work they CAN be actually BETTER!
Check out some of the upgrades done tho these by my good buddy Davesintexas.
He's a Fibson specialist.

Hi Frets,Towards the end when you got that high pitched micro-phonic feedback from those pickups was weird. As none of my Gibson Les Paul's be they my Customs or my Standards or with full size Gibson humbucking pickups would ever get that type of awful type of sequel. That I would not like. Perhaps it's because the body is chambered/hollowed out as you say it is here. It's just strange to hear that from a PAF or 57 Classic, or Bluesbucker Gibson humbucking pickup of any kind. Strange huh ???
