McCain and Palin want to smear Obama with guilt by association over his non-relationship with Bill Ayers.

Perhaps more attention ought to be paid to Palins long and ongoing relationship with the extremist Alaska Independence Party (AIP) and its leaders. And perhaps Palin ought to be asked why she has associated with extremists who not only support secession from the U.S. but who have [forged] alliances with outright white supremacists and far-right theocrats, who are [affiliated] with neo-Confederate organizations, and who are pro-gun, anti-government, militia-supporting nuts.

Palins rise to prominence, both in Wasilla and Juneau, was facilitated in large part by two prominent right-wingers, Mark Chryson (a former AIP chairman) and Steve Stoll (a John Birth Society activist). Both Stoll and Chryson not only contributed to Palins campaign [for mayor of Wasilla] financially, they played major behind-the-scenes roles in the Palin camp before, during and after her victory. And the support has been mutual, with Palin actively seeking to advance their agenda.

  • The very fact that she'd address such a group, even if it was just pandering for votes, indicates that she extends to them some level of legitimacy. The A.I.P. is illegitimate, considering the fact that they don't even comprehend the compact (contract) nature of the Constitution.

  • @Ovito85 Sarah Palin and some secessionist movement has nothing to do with the fact that Obama has had close ties to such a radical like Ayers.

  • @Ovito85 Oh and 3rd, I don't like Sarah Palin. She was hand-picked by Soros as John McCain to lose and get the commie in office.

  • @Ovito85 Oh well, Obama is basically selling this country. Texas has the legal right to secede. They were a country at one point. For one, the federal reserve is illegal. 2nd, Arizona is enforcing the constitution by securing the U.S. border, While our Black Panther President is sucking Calderones Dick while Mexicos govt. continues to put people in jail for 5 years for being illegal. I can tell you. If Obama enforces martial law, the country will divide. My loyalty is not with this regime.

  • @Capitalist09 and? your beloved sarah wants to seperate from the us

  • Ok you fucking marxist dumbass, My uncle is a professor of criminology in Chicago where he lives, and he used to see (during the late 90's and 00's) Bill Ayers and Barack Obama walking and talking constantly.

You seem to want to change the system. I think the system is pretty good and works pretty well. It has done so for a couple of hundred years and more and, historically, that's really something. I would be loathe to radically change it. I would prefer to work within the system to change it. Don't forget the FF's left the possibility of constitutional amendment and other means of change (e.g. legislation, US Supreme Court Opinion). That's the method I would use and rely on.

That is one of the other major disagreements I think we have. I have a view of democracy (representative, constitutional or otherwise) that acknowledges that some will never get what they want within the system. That is the price of democracy but I also subscibe to Churchill's view that it is the best of a bad bunch or the 'least worst' option. It's not perfect, far from it. Nor can it ever be.

Our third disagreement IMO is how to deal wiht that fact of permanent minority views.

  • Cont..

Our disagreement is over whether there is a constitutional right to secession which is what I raised my original objection to.

You think you're being tyrannised, I don't. You think your government is unresponsive. I don't. You think your government is too large. I'm not sure on that one but I can accept your position on it.

However, a workable representative democracy of your size (indeed of any size) will require those not in the majority opinion to accept it with grace.
