Tony Hulman made the rebirth of the Indy 500 happen in the 1940's. Check out indianapolismotorspeedway.com for other videos and photos for the celebration.
Tony Hulman passed long before his time was over. He created the pageantry that IS the Indianapolis 500. I remember being a 12-year-old boy, attending my first race, and was mesmerized by the way he uttered those four famous words that end this video.
I've seen many renditions of our Nationan Anthem that would cause Mr. Hulman to roll over in his grave. He would never have permitted this sacrilege at Indianapolis. No National Anthem should be butchered in such a manner.
A true visionary. This is my favorite video of the Centennial Series.
