I wish we had more access to this music. We have SO many recordings of Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, we all know who the big guys are. Other composers, and great works, have slipped through the cracks and unfortunately only the true enthusiasts try to revive it every now and again but unfortunately to have it drowned in the thousands of recordings of the already recorded. Thanks again for the music.

Consider that as people age, they also accumulate better knowledge and taste and they are better prepared to more fully understand slow music. It is not that we are older but rather that we are deeper and more sophisticated in our tastes.

@jasjjb yes well nobody knows who he is, unless you are into more obscure Baroque composers, or you are studying classical music in University or some sort of music school, he didn't compose much and its hard to find recordings of his, but he had some very nice pieces, this is probably his best that's why its on CD.

@tjwhite1963 I could not agree with you more but we as humans love the familiar and are scared of the new or the unknown. More people would go to a listen to the Grieg piano concerto instead of the Litolff Concerto Symphonique in B minor which is a powerful and beautiful work. My piano teacher said you have to "fool" the public. Give them the usual programme that they want and slip in 2 unknown works. That way they get what they want and a new education of the unknown.

@mrmolinodelahoz No way are we old! Im 33 yrs old, and the only thing that gets me through my long study sessions (nursing) is baroque! I love Vivaldi, Mossi, Locatelli, Corelli... and Im learning so much more about great composers everyday!!

@jasjjb me too! I am new to classical, and this is my 1st Mossi!! Loving it!

@mrmolinodelahoz you are wrong...people can have lot of knowladge and still prefer fast music...and abstract art...
-
@baroquegeek, there is a score of Mossi's 12 violin sonatas from a link on wikipedia. We are fortunate to have people who make old scores available through the internet for free.

Thank you harmonico for posting this interesting concerto. It is nice and I thik Mossi would deserve be better known. :)
May be due to me being "un eductated" in music and only a beginner this is the first time I have heard of GIOVANNI MOSSI but this sounds awesome indeed!!! Thanks many times...!!

Oh believe me, most EDUCATED musicians have no idea who this guy is. I'd never heard of him before I bought this recording either.

Really? Mossi? Friend of Rossi? Kinda of bossy? Just kidding. Me neither :-)
(I had more rhymes, but they were X-rated)
