Drowning is the second leading cause of injury related-death for Canadian children. Every year almost 60 children drown. But there is something you can do to keep children safe. Active supervision of children when they are around or in the water, proper pool fencing, the use of lifejackets, and adult training in first aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) can prevent drowning.
i took the St John Ambulance "Save That Child" course shortly before my first was born, just to make sure in case anything happened I'd be ready. Nothing happened but I'm sure glad I took the course!
