Rafael Nadal lost today in Shanghai to Jurgen Melzer. Melzer used an agressive all court style and was most impressive with his approaches to the net. Nadal is used to players such as Roger Federer attacking him and because of that he did pull of some of his world famous passing shots. The difference however is that Jurgen is himself a lefthander, as a result the heavy topspinned forehands that usually target Federer's backhand were instead going into Melzers powerful forehand. This video shows the critical break in the 3rd set, from that point on Melzer picked up his level and cruised to a dominant upset over the worlds number one player!
