Poverty in Chicago is a full-length documentary that takes a raw look at the conditions experienced by Chicago's estimated 110,000 homeless inhibitors. The film tracks the director Brian Schodorf's personal exploration of the overwhelming urban homeless problem Schodorf began to learn about upon moving to Chicago from his former home in Wichita, Kansas. Schodorf takes the viewer into the lives of nearly 15 homeless men currently living on the streets, concentrating around Chicago's South Loop. This film is an exploration of how the drug afflicted homeless population affects society as a whole with exclusive interviews from many of Chicago`s most respected experts and lawmakers. Those interviewed include Senator Jacqueline Collins, Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, Director of Chicago Recovery Alliance Dan Bigg, and well as professors from Columbia College, University of Chicago, and Chicago State to name a few. Schodorf's developed relationship with the men allows the viewer to get a true inside look at what life is like as a permanent resident of the streets. I've told you, now I'm gonna show you,' says one homeless man who leads Schodorf and his crew through the most crime infested areas of Chicago's south and west inside the drug trade itself. Real and uncensored, the film addresses the problems most members of society ignore on a daily basis. It shows all aspects of the drug problem from 50-year-old panhandlers to suburban teens who stick themselves with the same needles. Poverty in Chicago shows how homelessness effects us all.

God bless the PGM. Who wants to be there? But when you have nothing, it just may help you. It's a good thing, easy to criticize, but a blessing for the hungry. God bless you guys who run the place.

@Godzie1 How do you know what God wants? Do you have a relationship with Him?

If it weren't for places like this and for people who have a passion to help others, this world would be a lot more difficult for the less fortunate.

@NolanRogers2 Such a crock of shit. The UK has some ugly, ugly poverty... And a rich monarchy tiding atop it all.
You should pull your head out of your ass every once in a while just to make sure you still can... :)

@NolanRogers2 Well said. I love my country, don't get me wrong. But you are correct. I wish I could engage you in a sensible debate on this issue, but sadly I cannot...

Sad that you Yanks treat your poor citizens like this.
The USA is a disgrace. In the UK there are many programs and help that the poor can take advantage of.
In the US you just starve and die.
Sad.

@aThinkingChristian What do you mean being accountable for their own actions? Being poor is not something that anyone bargained for in the first place? You don't have the right to judge a person for what they have in the bank. You have no right to preach to these poor people because they have been through enough in their lives. God loves them & God is none too happy w/the rich. You are not there to judge. All God wants for you to do is help & give compassion.
