Yes, you are correct TantePie, Jesse did write this song, and is the original.
What I meant by "the original" is, the version by The Youngbloods, of which Jesse was a member when he first recorded this.

Different from the original, but that is what great songwriting is about, making the song go on no matter what form it takes.
