St. John is revered by both Muslims and Christians. His tomb lies inside the Grand Mosque of Damascus.

This is the shrine of al Khidr as known to Muslims which lies inside the citadel in Allepo, Syria. The name , al Khidr, translates as the Green One as it is known in Western countries particularly in London. The shrine is attended to by two female caretakers who are visibly shying away from the camera.
