In Memory of Zoe Moraga Natkin Ripley Part 1

Zoe was sleeping until she was awakened again for her walk.

This video was shot around her 18th birthday.

Zoe was born in the late Spring of 1991. She lived a very happy exciting joy filled life. She ate a few pounds of filet mignon and hamachi sashimi during her lifetime along with pizza with extra cheese and anything else her little heart desired. She was a true princess.

Zoe died on September 2, 2009 at 5:00 am

She soaks up sunshine
like a solar goddess
with crooked teeth
and amber eyes, stretches
flat on the dining table.
She wants someone
to peel her a grape.

My Zoe is one quality cat.
She imagines bathing
her electric monkey fur
in cream of broccoli soup,
settles for a cotton-ball bath
of Bulgarian rose water.
Why should she spit clean
when she doesnt have to?

My Zoe is one quality cat.
She doesnt share
her premium morsels—
chicken breasts, de-boned,
shredded, and plated
just so; melt-in-her-mouth
hamachi sashimi, $27 a pound,
flown in from Japan—
with flea-nipped urchins.
They can eat her jerkied leftovers.

My Zoe is one quality cat.
Shell burst onto the dinner table,
slash the burrito-meat-pinata open
and dig for steak, suck buffalo
Mozzarella off pizza slices,
and drag tuna from bento boxes,
without turning an ear
when she is called. She will meow
at her earliest convenience.

My Zoe is one quality cat.
She prowled through her previous life
as a Parisian streetwalker
in skin-tight suits and ballerina flats,
remembers the fish soup with croutons
when she sinks into her sweater-lined bed.

Now right there, I was talking to my Zoe kitty. He's a he with a she name. He was actually named by a little Italian girl who liked the name Zoe and didn't know or care about any boy/girl differences.

Your Zoe reminds me of several of my past kitties. So sorry she had to go. My Zoe's lifetime girlfriend (Sandy, Golden Retriever) finally had to go too.
