@tduaba Finally it is part of the MacGregor Method to experiment with "foreign" weapons, also if other knowledge comes in addition into its use. If I use a katana, of course the old knowledge of my kendo/kenjutsu time comes in mind, but I use more of Broadsword-principles in addition to it, than I would have used before. The MacGregor Method is not only about using pure Broadsword-skills, what you have from other disciplines should come into it as an addition of course. Kind regards from the BAG

Okay, I thought you were using the MacGregor method here, I was just confused by the description I guess. Nice bout though, I like how you guys experiment so much there. I wish I had time to do that more myself.

@tduaba I was using the sidesword and worked with in the sense of the MacGregor Method part of it from Broadsword, part of it from what I know a bit about this weapon. The MacGregor Method is much about trial and error and putting some aspects of other disciplines in it, when using another weapon, can be a good addition to the Broadsword-base. I recognized, that thrusts with the longer sidesword worked much better, when standing a bit more coruched.

I'm just curious here, but are you using the sidesword with the MacGregor method, or are you using renaissance Italian styles against the broadsword?
